ALTON, Ill. (First Alert 4) - One person has died after being shot multiple times Friday night in Alton.

Officers responded to a shooting shortly after 10 p.m. in the 200 block of West Delmar Avenue. They found a man with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was taken to an area hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

The victim in the shooting was later identified as 21-year-old Terrance R. Johnson.

Police say preliminary investigation indicates Johnson and the shooter knew each other, and they say there is no threat to the public at this time.
