NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (First Alert 4) - A motorcyclist was hit by a car that was accidentally left in drive in North County on Thursday.

The accident happened near the intersection of Chambers Road and Scottsdale around 7:10 p.m.

Police say a car and a motorcycle got into a crash before another driver stopped to help. Authorities say the driver who stopped to help accidentally left the car in drive; that car then rolled over the motorcyclist.

The driver of the car involved in the initial accident stayed at the scene. Police say the driver of the car that rolled over the motorcyclist drove off but was stopped by officers a short time later.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
