(First Alert 4) - A man will serve the rest of his life in prison after a St. Louis County jury found him guilty of murdering his ex-girlfriend. Darryl Greenlee, 62, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole Friday after a jury found him guilty of murder in the August 2025 killing of 64-year-old Sheila Mills. According to prosecutors, Mills' daughter had requested a welfare check on her mother. When officers arrived, they found Mills dead in her basement. Investigators say she was found bound and shot. Prosecutors say evidence was found on Mills' phone and her doorbell camera that pointed to Greenlee. Investigators say Mills and Greenlee had been in a turbulent relationship, and Mills had broken up with Greenlee the day before she was killed. Greenlee was found guilty of first-degree murder and armed criminal action following a four-day trial in August. Ms. Mills was a mother with a beautiful spirit, and she should still be with us today, St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Price-Smith said. It is very unfortunate that people are unable to express their desire to leave a relationship without fear of retaliation from their intimate partner.
